CVE-2022-40152 | 3 Fasterxml, Redhat, Xstream Project | 8 Woodstox, Camel Quarkus, Camel Spring Boot and 5 more | 2024-09-16 | 6.5 Medium |
Those using Woodstox to parse XML data may be vulnerable to Denial of Service attacks (DOS) if DTD support is enabled. If the parser is running on user supplied input, an attacker may supply content that causes the parser to crash by stackoverflow. This effect may support a denial of service attack.
CVE-2022-40151 | 2 Redhat, Xstream Project | 5 Camel Quarkus, Camel Spring Boot, Jboss Enterprise Bpms Platform and 2 more | 2024-09-16 | 6.5 Medium |
Those using Xstream to seralize XML data may be vulnerable to Denial of Service attacks (DOS). If the parser is running on user supplied input, an attacker may supply content that causes the parser to crash by stackoverflow. This effect may support a denial of service attack.
CVE-2013-7285 | 2 Redhat, Xstream Project | 15 Fuse Esb Enterprise, Fuse Management Console, Fuse Mq Enterprise and 12 more | 2024-08-06 | 9.8 Critical |
Xstream API versions up to 1.4.6 and version 1.4.10, if the security framework has not been initialized, may allow a remote attacker to run arbitrary shell commands by manipulating the processed input stream when unmarshaling XML or any supported format. e.g. JSON.
CVE-2016-3674 | 4 Debian, Fedoraproject, Redhat and 1 more | 5 Debian Linux, Fedora, Jboss Bpms and 2 more | 2024-08-06 | N/A |
Multiple XML external entity (XXE) vulnerabilities in the (1) Dom4JDriver, (2) DomDriver, (3) JDomDriver, (4) JDom2Driver, (5) SjsxpDriver, (6) StandardStaxDriver, and (7) WstxDriver drivers in XStream before 1.4.9 allow remote attackers to read arbitrary files via a crafted XML document.
CVE-2017-7957 | 3 Debian, Redhat, Xstream Project | 6 Debian Linux, Jboss Amq, Jboss Bpms and 3 more | 2024-08-05 | N/A |
XStream through 1.4.9, when a certain denyTypes workaround is not used, mishandles attempts to create an instance of the primitive type 'void' during unmarshalling, leading to a remote application crash, as demonstrated by an xstream.fromXML("<void/>") call.
CVE-2019-10173 | 3 Oracle, Redhat, Xstream Project | 15 Banking Platform, Business Activity Monitoring, Communications Billing And Revenue Management Elastic Charging Engine and 12 more | 2024-08-04 | 9.8 Critical |
It was found that xstream API version 1.4.10 before 1.4.11 introduced a regression for a previous deserialization flaw. If the security framework has not been initialized, it may allow a remote attacker to run arbitrary shell commands when unmarshalling XML or any supported format. e.g. JSON. (regression of CVE-2013-7285)
CVE-2020-26258 | 4 Debian, Fedoraproject, Redhat and 1 more | 9 Debian Linux, Fedora, Camel Quarkus and 6 more | 2024-08-04 | 7.7 High |
XStream is a Java library to serialize objects to XML and back again. In XStream before version 1.4.15, a Server-Side Forgery Request vulnerability can be activated when unmarshalling. The vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to request data from internal resources that are not publicly available only by manipulating the processed input stream. If you rely on XStream's default blacklist of the Security Framework, you will have to use at least version 1.4.15. The reported vulnerability does not exist if running Java 15 or higher. No user is affected who followed the recommendation to setup XStream's Security Framework with a whitelist! Anyone relying on XStream's default blacklist can immediately switch to a whilelist for the allowed types to avoid the vulnerability. Users of XStream 1.4.14 or below who still want to use XStream default blacklist can use a workaround described in more detailed in the referenced advisories.
CVE-2020-26259 | 4 Debian, Fedoraproject, Redhat and 1 more | 9 Debian Linux, Fedora, Camel Quarkus and 6 more | 2024-08-04 | 6.8 Medium |
XStream is a Java library to serialize objects to XML and back again. In XStream before version 1.4.15, is vulnerable to an Arbitrary File Deletion on the local host when unmarshalling. The vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to delete arbitrary know files on the host as log as the executing process has sufficient rights only by manipulating the processed input stream. If you rely on XStream's default blacklist of the Security Framework, you will have to use at least version 1.4.15. The reported vulnerability does not exist running Java 15 or higher. No user is affected, who followed the recommendation to setup XStream's Security Framework with a whitelist! Anyone relying on XStream's default blacklist can immediately switch to a whilelist for the allowed types to avoid the vulnerability. Users of XStream 1.4.14 or below who still want to use XStream default blacklist can use a workaround described in more detailed in the referenced advisories.
CVE-2020-26217 | 6 Apache, Debian, Netapp and 3 more | 23 Activemq, Debian Linux, Snapmanager and 20 more | 2024-08-04 | 8 High |
XStream before version 1.4.14 is vulnerable to Remote Code Execution. The vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to run arbitrary shell commands only by manipulating the processed input stream. Only users who rely on blocklists are affected. Anyone using XStream's Security Framework allowlist is not affected. The linked advisory provides code workarounds for users who cannot upgrade. The issue is fixed in version 1.4.14.
CVE-2021-43859 | 5 Debian, Fedoraproject, Oracle and 2 more | 13 Debian Linux, Fedora, Commerce Guided Search and 10 more | 2024-08-04 | 7.5 High |
XStream is an open source java library to serialize objects to XML and back again. Versions prior to 1.4.19 may allow a remote attacker to allocate 100% CPU time on the target system depending on CPU type or parallel execution of such a payload resulting in a denial of service only by manipulating the processed input stream. XStream 1.4.19 monitors and accumulates the time it takes to add elements to collections and throws an exception if a set threshold is exceeded. Users are advised to upgrade as soon as possible. Users unable to upgrade may set the NO_REFERENCE mode to prevent recursion. See GHSA-rmr5-cpv2-vgjf for further details on a workaround if an upgrade is not possible.
CVE-2021-39150 | 6 Debian, Fedoraproject, Netapp and 3 more | 21 Debian Linux, Fedora, Snapmanager and 18 more | 2024-08-04 | 8.5 High |
XStream is a simple library to serialize objects to XML and back again. In affected versions this vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to request data from internal resources that are not publicly available only by manipulating the processed input stream with a Java runtime version 14 to 8. No user is affected, who followed the recommendation to setup XStream's security framework with a whitelist limited to the minimal required types. If you rely on XStream's default blacklist of the [Security Framework](https://x-stream.github.io/security.html#framework), you will have to use at least version 1.4.18.
CVE-2021-39141 | 6 Debian, Fedoraproject, Netapp and 3 more | 21 Debian Linux, Fedora, Snapmanager and 18 more | 2024-08-04 | 8.5 High |
XStream is a simple library to serialize objects to XML and back again. In affected versions this vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to load and execute arbitrary code from a remote host only by manipulating the processed input stream.
