CVSS v3.1 |
| Heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability in Apache Thrift C++ THeaderTransport.
When an application enables the ZLIB transform for the frames it sends, THeaderTransport::transform() copies the compressed frame into the write buffer without making sure it fits. Data that does not compress, such as content a remote peer supplied, grows under compression, so the copy writes past the end of the heap buffer by an amount that grows with the size of the frame, and for large frames it also reads past the end of the transform buffer.
This issue affects Apache Thrift: before 0.25.0.
Users are recommended to upgrade to version 0.25.0, which fixes the issue. |

| A flaw was found in GLib (Gnome Lib). This vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause heap corruption, leading to a denial of service or potential code execution via a buffer-underflow in the GVariant parser when processing maliciously crafted input strings. |
| A flaw was found in xdgmime. A heap-based buffer overflow can be triggered in _xdg_mime_magic_parse_magic_line() in the xdgmimemagic.c file on little-endian systems when an attacker-controlled MIME magic file in a user-writable XDG data location (e.g., in the $XDG_DATA_HOME/mime/magic path) is parsed by an application performing MIME type detection (e.g., via g_content_type_guess()). When performing byte-swap, incorrect pointer arithmetic on the write side causes an out-of-bounds write of 2 bytes, resulting in an application crash or memory corruption. |
| A flaw was found in libtiff. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by providing a specially crafted PixarLog-compressed TIFF image. This issue occurs when decoding Pixarlog codec images with the PIXARLOGDATAFMT_8BITABGR output format and a specific stride value, leading to a heap-based buffer overflow. This could potentially result in arbitrary code execution or a denial of service (DoS). |
| A heap buffer overflow vulnerability was found in libaom, the reference AV1 codec implementation. A flaw in the AV1 encoder's Look-Ahead Processing (LAP) mode causes the first-pass stats ring buffer wrap-around guard to be bypassed when g_lag_in_frames is set to 1 or higher. This results in a 232-byte out-of-bounds write on every encoded frame after the second, corrupting adjacent heap objects. An attacker who can influence encoder configuration in a transcoding service or WebRTC session could exploit this to cause a denial of service (process crash) or potentially achieve code execution. |
| The revoked-key error path builds a human-readable failure reason using sprintf() into a heap buffer. The allocated buffer is too small for the final formatted message. When sprintf() writes the full message, it can write past the end of the heap allocation. |
| Buffer overflow in ANGLE in Google Chrome on on Android prior to 154.0.8037.57 allowed a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code outside the sandbox via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: Critical) |
| Dell OpenManage Server Administrator, versions prior to 11.1.0.3, contains a Heap-based Buffer Overflow vulnerability. A low privileged attacker with local access could potentially exploit this vulnerability, leading to Elevation of privileges. |
| Heap-based buffer overflow in Microsoft Windows Codecs Library allows an unauthorized attacker to elevate privileges locally. |
| Heap-based buffer overflow in Microsoft Windows Codecs Library allows an unauthorized attacker to execute code locally. |
| A flaw was found in the SFTP backend in gvfs. When mounting a share and reading a file, a malicious SFTP server can cause read_reply() to process a length that exceeds the size requested by the client. The function does not verify the server-provided length against the allocated buffer size, causing the operation to write past the intended boundaries. This issue allows a malicious server to corrupt adjacent heap memory in the gvfsd-sftp process, resulting in a denial of service as the process aborts upon detecting the heap corruption or potentially allowing arbitrary code execution. |
| iperf3 3.20–3.21 (esnet/iperf) has a pre-auth heap buffer overflow in decrypt_rsa_message(): a 256-byte RSA buffer is BIO_read with the attacker-controlled ciphertext length (guard warns only), so an unauthenticated client overflows the heap via an oversized authtoken; fixed in 3.22 |
| MikroTik RouterOS before 7.24 contains a heap memory corruption vulnerability in the userspace SMB daemon that allows remote attackers to corrupt adjacent heap memory by supplying a crafted uniPwdLen value in the SMB1 SessionSetupAndX handler. An attacker can send a malformed SMB1 request with a uniPwdLen field that triggers an integer underflow, causing the resulting value to be used as the copy length in a memory copy operation into a smaller heap buffer, corrupting adjacent heap memory. |
| Ghostscript before 10.08.0 contains a heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability in the JPEG 2000 output adapter (base/sjpx_openjpeg.c) that allows attackers to cause memory corruption by supplying a crafted PDF containing a JPEG 2000 image with mismatched component subsampling factors. When image components declare different subsampling values, the non-samescale sub-byte-depth output path allocates a row buffer sized for packed output but writes a full byte per output column regardless of bit depth, overflowing the allocation and corrupting internal chunk-allocator metadata to achieve code execution. |
| Heap-based buffer overflow in Microsoft Local Security Authority Server (lsasrv) allows an authorized attacker to elevate privileges locally. |
| Heap-based buffer overflow in Virtual Hard Disk (VHD) Miniport Driver allows an authorized attacker to elevate privileges locally. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
PCI/sysfs: Add CAP_SYS_ADMIN check to __resource_resize_store()
Currently, the __resource_resize_store() allows writing to the
resourceN_resize sysfs attribute to change a BAR's size without checking
for capabilities, currently relying only on the file access check.
Resizing a BAR modifies PCI device configuration and can disrupt active
drivers. After the upcoming conversion to static attributes, it will also
trigger resource file updates via sysfs_update_groups().
Add a CAP_SYS_ADMIN check to prevent unprivileged users from performing BAR
resize operations. |
| Integer underflow (wrap or wraparound) in Microsoft UxTheme Library (uxtheme.dll) allows an unauthorized attacker to execute code over a network. |
| Buffer overflow in ANGLE in Google Chrome on on Android prior to 154.0.8037.57 allowed a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code outside the sandbox via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: Critical) |
