In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: hugetlbfs: fix null-ptr-deref in hugetlbfs_parse_param() Syzkaller reports a null-ptr-deref bug as follows: ====================================================== KASAN: null-ptr-deref in range [0x0000000000000000-0x0000000000000007] RIP: 0010:hugetlbfs_parse_param+0x1dd/0x8e0 fs/hugetlbfs/inode.c:1380 [...] Call Trace: <TASK> vfs_parse_fs_param fs/fs_context.c:148 [inline] vfs_parse_fs_param+0x1f9/0x3c0 fs/fs_context.c:129 vfs_parse_fs_string+0xdb/0x170 fs/fs_context.c:191 generic_parse_monolithic+0x16f/0x1f0 fs/fs_context.c:231 do_new_mount fs/namespace.c:3036 [inline] path_mount+0x12de/0x1e20 fs/namespace.c:3370 do_mount fs/namespace.c:3383 [inline] __do_sys_mount fs/namespace.c:3591 [inline] __se_sys_mount fs/namespace.c:3568 [inline] __x64_sys_mount+0x27f/0x300 fs/namespace.c:3568 do_syscall_x64 arch/x86/entry/common.c:50 [inline] do_syscall_64+0x35/0xb0 arch/x86/entry/common.c:80 entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x63/0xcd [...] </TASK> ====================================================== According to commit "vfs: parse: deal with zero length string value", kernel will set the param->string to null pointer in vfs_parse_fs_string() if fs string has zero length. Yet the problem is that, hugetlbfs_parse_param() will dereference the param->string, without checking whether it is a null pointer. To be more specific, if hugetlbfs_parse_param() parses an illegal mount parameter, such as "size=,", kernel will constructs struct fs_parameter with null pointer in vfs_parse_fs_string(), then passes this struct fs_parameter to hugetlbfs_parse_param(), which triggers the above null-ptr-deref bug. This patch solves it by adding sanity check on param->string in hugetlbfs_parse_param().
CVE-2022-50024 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2025-12-23 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: dmaengine: dw-axi-dmac: do not print NULL LLI during error During debugging we have seen an issue where axi_chan_dump_lli() is passed a NULL LLI pointer which ends up causing an OOPS due to trying to get fields from it. Simply print NULL LLI and exit to avoid this.
CVE-2022-49932 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2025-12-23 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: KVM: VMX: Do _all_ initialization before exposing /dev/kvm to userspace Call kvm_init() only after _all_ setup is complete, as kvm_init() exposes /dev/kvm to userspace and thus allows userspace to create VMs (and call other ioctls). E.g. KVM will encounter a NULL pointer when attempting to add a vCPU to the per-CPU loaded_vmcss_on_cpu list if userspace is able to create a VM before vmx_init() configures said list. CVE-2022-49831 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2025-12-23 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: btrfs: zoned: initialize device's zone info for seeding When performing seeding on a zoned filesystem it is necessary to initialize each zoned device's btrfs_zoned_device_info structure, otherwise mounting the filesystem will cause a NULL pointer dereference. This was uncovered by fstests' testcase btrfs/163.
CVE-2022-49731 2 Linux, Redhat 2 Linux Kernel, Enterprise Linux 2025-12-23 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ata: libata-core: fix NULL pointer deref in ata_host_alloc_pinfo() In an unlikely (and probably wrong?) case that the 'ppi' parameter of ata_host_alloc_pinfo() points to an array starting with a NULL pointer, there's going to be a kernel oops as the 'pi' local variable won't get reassigned from the initial value of NULL. Initialize 'pi' instead to '&ata_dummy_port_info' to fix the possible kernel oops for good... Found by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) with the SVACE static analysis tool.
CVE-2022-49707 2 Linux, Redhat 2 Linux Kernel, Enterprise Linux 2025-12-23 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ext4: add reserved GDT blocks check We capture a NULL pointer issue when resizing a corrupt ext4 image which is freshly clear resize_inode feature (not run e2fsck). It could be simply reproduced by following steps. The problem is because of the resize_inode feature was cleared, and it will convert the filesystem to meta_bg mode in ext4_resize_fs(), but the es->s_reserved_gdt_blocks was not reduced to zero, so could we mistakenly call reserve_backup_gdb() and passing an uninitialized resize_inode to it when adding new group descriptors. mkfs.ext4 /dev/sda 3G tune2fs -O ^resize_inode /dev/sda #forget to run requested e2fsck mount /dev/sda /mnt resize2fs /dev/sda 8G ======== BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 0000000000000028 CPU: 19 PID: 3243 Comm: resize2fs Not tainted 5.18.0-rc7-00001-gfde086c5ebfd #748 ... CVE-2022-49492 2 Linux, Redhat 2 Linux Kernel, Enterprise Linux 2025-12-23 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nvme-pci: fix a NULL pointer dereference in nvme_alloc_admin_tags In nvme_alloc_admin_tags, the admin_q can be set to an error (typically -ENOMEM) if the blk_mq_init_queue call fails to set up the queue, which is checked immediately after the call. However, when we return the error message up the stack, to nvme_reset_work the error takes us to nvme_remove_dead_ctrl() nvme_dev_disable() nvme_suspend_queue(&dev->queues[0]). Here, we only check that the admin_q is non-NULL, rather than not an error or NULL, and begin quiescing a queue that never existed, leading to bad / NULL pointer dereference.

CVE-2022-49300 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2025-12-23 4.7 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nbd: fix race between nbd_alloc_config() and module removal When nbd module is being removing, nbd_alloc_config() may be called concurrently by nbd_genl_connect(), although try_module_get() will return false, but nbd_alloc_config() doesn't handle it. On the reception of a HCI_Synchronous_Connection_Complete for a BDADDR of an existing LE connection, LE link type and a status that triggers the second case of the packet processing a NULL pointer dereference happens, as conn->link is NULL.
CVE-2022-49134 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2025-12-23 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mlxsw: spectrum: Guard against invalid local ports When processing events generated by the device's firmware, the driver protects itself from events reported for non-existent local ports, but not for the CPU port (local port 0), which exists, but does not have all the fields as any local port. This can result in a NULL pointer dereference when trying access 'struct mlxsw_sp_port' fields which are not initialized for CPU port. Commit 63b08b1f6834 ("mlxsw: spectrum: Protect driver from buggy firmware") already handled such issue by bailing early when processing a PUDE event reported for the CPU port. Generalize the approach by moving the check to a common function and making use of it in all relevant places.
