EUVD-2023-39764 | PiiGAB M-Bus stores credentials in a plaintext file, which could allow a low-level user to gain admin credentials. |
Solution
PiiGAB created updated software to address these issues and encourages users to install the new update on their own gateway. The new software packages can be downloaded directly from the web UI in the gateway and older gateways can download it from Piigab.se http://www.piigab.se/ or Piigab.com https://www.piigab.com/ .
Workaround
CISA recommends users take defensive measures to minimize the risk of exploitation of these vulnerabilities. Specifically, users should: * Ensure the least-privilege user principle is followed. * Set unique and secure passwords for all products requiring authentication. * Minimize network exposure for all control system devices and/or systems, and ensure they are not accessible from the Internet https://www.cisa.gov/uscert/ics/alerts/ICS-ALERT-10-301-01 . * Locate control system networks and remote devices behind firewalls and isolate them from business networks. * When remote access is required, use secure methods, such as virtual private networks (VPNs), recognizing VPNs may have vulnerabilities and should be updated to the most current version available. Also recognize VPN is only as secure as its connected devices.
