Impact
The vulnerability is a use‑after‑free fault in the Chrome Navigation module that permits a crafted HTML page to trigger the execution of arbitrary code outside of the browser sandbox. This flaw violates memory safety and compromises the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the system that hosts the vulnerable browser instance.
Affected Systems
Google Chrome desktop versions older than 155.0.8059.39 are affected. Any machine running one of those releases is susceptible if a malicious web page is accessed through the browser.
Risk and Exploitability
Chromium labels the issue as Critical, and the CVSS score is 9.6. The vulnerability is not currently in the CISA KEV catalog. The attack vector is most likely a crafted web page that exploits the double use of freed memory, allowing an attacker to run code with elevated privileges beyond the browser’s sandbox.
