Impact
A use-after-free flaw in Windows Message Queuing (MQ) enables an attacker to trigger arbitrary code execution on a target system with no authentication. The vulnerability resides in memory handling during message processing and can be exploited remotely over the network, granting the attacker full control over the affected machine.
Affected Systems
Windows 10 versions 1607, 1809, 21H2, 22H2; Windows 11 versions 23H2, 24H2, 25H2, 26H2, 23H2, 26H1; Windows Server 2012, 2012 R2, 2016, 2019, 2022, 2025 in both full and core installations. These systems run the Message Queuing service which is the component containing the vulnerable use-after-free.
Risk and Exploitability
The CVSS score of 8.1 classifies the flaw as high severity. EPSS data is not available, so the current exploitation probability is unknown, and the vulnerability is not listed in CISA’s KEV catalog. The attack vector is inferred to be network bound, requiring the attacker to reach the MQ endpoints on the victim network, but no additional credential or local privilege is needed.
