Impact
The vulnerability arises from the use of eval within the dhcp_dynamicip_show.cgi script in the DHCP Handler component of Netcore NR268 firmware 1.7.121109. Manipulating the Hostname argument allows injection of arbitrary JavaScript, which is rendered in the victim’s browser, constituting classic cross‑site scripting (CWE‑79) and reflecting unsafe code execution via eval (CWE‑94). An attacker could hijack user sessions, capture cookies, or execute arbitrary commands in the context of the web interface.
Affected Systems
Affected systems are Netcore NR268 routers running firmware version 1.7.121109. The flaw is located in the DHCP Handler module of the web interface exposed by the device.
Risk and Exploitability
The CVSS score of 5.3 indicates a moderate severity. EPSS information is not available and the vulnerability is not listed in the CISA KEV catalog. The attack may be launched remotely, and a public exploit is available, allowing attackers to target exposed devices without prior authentication. While the severity is moderate, the remote exploitation vector and public availability of the exploit raise the overall risk profile for administrators.
