Description
The JetFormBuilder — Dynamic Blocks Form Builder plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the '<any form field name — e.g. 'payload'>' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 3.6.7 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. Exploitation requires the targeted form to have both the Save Form Record action enabled and a form-level Form Record preset configured; the stored payload only executes when a privileged user visits the front-end form page with the preset's record query variable set to the attacker's submitted record ID.

Impact

JetFormBuilder for WordPress enables an attacker to store malicious JavaScript via an unsanitized form field. The payload persists and activates only when a privileged user visits a form page that contains the form record preset query variable set to the attacker’s record ID. Successful exploitation results in cross‑site scripting, allowing an attacker to hijack sessions or access sensitive data (this is an inferred potential impact).

Affected Systems

The vulnerability affects JetFormBuilder version 3.6.7 and all earlier releases installed on WordPress sites. Any site running these versions with the Save Form Record action enabled and a form‑level Form Record preset configured is susceptible.

Risk and Exploitability

The CVSS score of 7.2 indicates moderate severity. No EPSS score is available and the issue is not listed in CISA KEV, suggesting lower current exploitation prevalence. Nevertheless, the requirement that a privileged user open the target form increases the attack surface but does not eliminate risk, particularly on sites with active users or where privileged users regularly view form pages.

Remediation

No solution or workaround provided in the CVE record.

OpenCVE Recommended Actions

  • Upgrade JetFormBuilder to the latest available release.
  • If an immediate upgrade is not possible, disable the Save Form Record action and any Form Record preset on all forms, or delete the affected forms to prevent stored payloads from executing.
  • As a temporary safeguard, review existing form fields and manually remove any stored scripts, or enforce input sanitization and output encoding for all form data.
