Impact
A vulnerability was discovered in radareorg radare2 6.2.0 and 6.2.2 within the HTTP Sandbox Policy Handler. The flaw lies in the function r_core_cmd_str_pipe, which fails to enforce the sandbox while the HTTP server is running. The misconfiguration allows commands sent to the /cmd endpoint to spawn processes because cfg.sandbox.grain defaults to allow all capabilities, including exec. This security misconfiguration (CWE‑693) can enable an attacker who can reach the HTTP interface to execute arbitrary code on the host.
Affected Systems
The affected product is radareorg radare2, specifically versions 6.2.0 and 6.2.2. A fix is available in radare2 6.2.4, which corrects the sandbox handling for HTTP commands. The issue does not affect older major releases shown by the CPE listing but is limited to the 6.x series given.
Risk and Exploitability
The CVSS base score of 6.3 indicates moderate severity, and the analysis labels the attack complexity as high and exploitation difficulty as hard. EPSS is currently not available, but the possibility of remote exploitation exists only when the HTTP server is exposed to untrusted users. The vulnerability is not listed in the CISA KEV catalog, meaning no confirmed exploitation has been reported yet. Nonetheless, the risk is non‑negligible for deployments that run the vulnerable radare2 instance behind unfiltered network exposure.
