Impact
The vulnerability arises from improper validation of metadata used during script execution in IBM MQ's Managed File Transfer, permitting an authenticated attacker to run arbitrary code on the agent host. This allows full compromise of that host, jeopardizing confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data handled by the transfer service.
Affected Systems
Affected systems include IBM MQ products. Versions 9.2.0.0 through 9.2.0.44 LTS, 9.3.0.0 through 9.3.0.42 LTS, 9.4.0.0 through 9.4.0.26 LTS, 9.4.0.0 through 9.4.5.1 Community Edition, and 10.0.0.0 through 10.0.0.5 LTS and CD.
Risk and Exploitability
The CVSS score of 8.5 indicates high severity, and while EPSS is not available, no listing in CISA KEV shows it has not yet been widely exploited. The requirement for authentication means that an attacker with valid credentials or who can compromise credentials presents a serious threat.
