Impact
The Axigen Mail Server contains an uncontrolled recursion flaw that allows attackers to send a single, deeply nested SOAP/XML or JSON request to the WebMail, WebAdmin, or WebMail Proxy listeners before authentication. The unbounded nesting exhausts the server stack, causing the SMTP, IMAP, POP3, and web services to crash repeatedly and making the mail server unavailable for legitimate users.
Affected Systems
Axigen Mail Server versions earlier than 10.5.69, 10.6.x earlier than 10.6.40, and 10.7.x earlier than 10.7.2 are affected.
Risk and Exploitability
With a CVSS score of 8.7 the flaw is considered high severity. The attack can be carried out from any network host without authentication by targeting the public WebMail, WebAdmin, or WebMail Proxy endpoints. Although the EPSS score is not available and the vulnerability is not listed in the CISA KEV catalog, the lack of available patching guidance combined with the high impact suggests that the risk remains significant and a timely response is warranted.
