Impact
IBM Planning Analytics 2.0 and 2.1 contain a stored cross‑site scripting flaw (CWE‑79) that allows any authenticated user to embed arbitrary JavaScript into the web interface. Executed scripts run with the privileges of the authenticated session and can exfiltrate credentials or other data visible to the user, disrupting intended functionality and compromising confidentiality.
Affected Systems
The affected product is IBM Planning Analytics Local. Versions 2.0 and 2.1.0 through 2.1.23 are vulnerable; version 2.1.24 and later contain the fix. The vulnerability is present on all components that render user supplied data in the web UI.
Risk and Exploitability
The CVSS score of 6.4 indicates a medium severity vulnerability. Because the flaw requires an authenticated user, the exploitation vector is limited to users with access to the Planning Analytics Local interface. EPSS data is unavailable, and the vulnerability is not listed in the CISA KEV catalog, suggesting the likelihood of a widespread, publicly known exploitation is currently low. However, any privileged or administrator accounts that have the ability to create or edit data could be used to inject malicious script, making the risk significant for organizations with many such users.
