Description
WeGIA is a web manager for charitable institutions. Prior to 3.8.6, unauthenticated POST requests to web/html/socio/sistema/cadastro_cobranca.php can place a quoted SQL expression in the codigo parameter, which extract($_REQUEST) passes into the WHERE codigo= clause of an UPDATE statement without validation or parameter binding. Quoting the value bypasses MariaDB type conversion for the VARCHAR column and permits arbitrary SQL execution without a session. An attacker can read or modify database content, including user credential hashes and billing records in the cobrancas table. This issue is fixed in version 3.8.6.

Impact

Unauthenticated POST requests to cadastro_cobranca.php allow an attacker to insert a quoted SQL expression into the "codigo" parameter, which is then injected directly into a WHERE clause of an UPDATE statement. Because the value is not validated or parameterized, the attacker can bypass MariaDB type conversion for the VARCHAR column and execute arbitrary SQL. This flaw enables reading or modifying critical database records, including user credential hashes and billing data in the cobrancas table.

Affected Systems

The vulnerability applies to WeGIA web managers deployed by LabRedesCefetRJ, specifically versions prior to 3.8.6. Any installation that has not yet upgraded to the 3.8.6 release remains exposed.

Risk and Exploitability

The CVSS score of 9.8 classifies this flaw as critical. EPSS data is not available, and it is not listed in the CISA KEV catalog. Attackers can exploit the issue by sending unauthenticated HTTP POST requests to the affected script, so any adversary with network or web access to the application can trigger the injection without needing valid credentials.

Remediation

No solution or workaround provided in the CVE record.

OpenCVE Recommended Actions

  • Apply version 3.8.6 of WeGIA to eliminate the SQL injection flaw
  • Restrict the database permissions of the WeGIA application user to enforce the principle of least privilege, limiting the ability to update sensitive tables
  • Deploy a web application firewall rule to block unexpected SQL syntax patterns on the cadastro_cobranca.php endpoint to provide an additional layer of protection if patching cannot be performed immediately
