Impact
An authorization shortcut in Shopper's Livewire components lets a user who only has read‑only team permissions mutate permissions and create or delete administrators. The flaw permits granting a staff member the full access_setting permission on their own role, bypassing stricter checks. This vulnerability enables an attacker with minimal duties to elevate privileges, set an attacker‑chosen administrator account, or remove roles, thereby causing denial of service for users under those roles.
Affected Systems
Shopper Labs’ headless e‑commerce admin panel is affected by this issue. It exists in releases 2.8.0 through 2.8.1 and was fixed in version 2.8.1. No later releases are reported as affected.
Risk and Exploitability
The CVSS score of 8.8 reflects a high severity. EPSS information is not available and the flaw is not listed in the KEV catalog. An attacker can exploit the bug via the web administration interface using only view_users and access_dashboard permissions; no external network access is required. The vulnerability allows privilege escalation and denial of service, making it attractive for adversaries who can manually exercise the described actions.
