Impact
The vulnerability is a use‑after‑free flaw in the Windows Win32 Kernel Subsystem. An authorized local user can trigger the errant memory dereference to gain elevated privileges on the system, allowing the execution of arbitrary code with those higher rights and enabling a compromise of the entire machine.
Affected Systems
Affected systems include Microsoft Windows 10 versions 1607, 1809, 21H2, 22H2 and Windows 11 versions 23H2, 24H2, 25H2, 26H2, 26H1, as well as Windows Server 2012, 2012 R2, 2016, 2019, 2022 and 2025, including their server‑core installations.
Risk and Exploitability
The CVSS base score of 7.0 indicates high potential impact. EPSS data is not available and the vulnerability is not listed in the CISA KEV catalog. Because the flaw requires local authorization, exploitation is limited to users with physical or local network access. The risk remains significant for systems that have not applied the corresponding Microsoft update.
