Impact
The vulnerability is due to improper neutralization of special elements in a SQL command, creating an SQL injection flaw in Microsoft Configuration Manager. An attacker who already has authorized access to the system can inject crafted input that bypasses authentication checks or modifies privileges, allowing them to elevate their access rights over the network.
Affected Systems
Microsoft Configuration Manager versions 2503, 2509, and 2603 are vulnerable. These are the current major releases of the product at the time of the advisory.
Risk and Exploitability
The CVSS score of 8.8 signals a high‑severity flaw. EPSS data is not available, and the issue is not listed in CISA’s KEV catalog. An authorized user can exploit the injection remotely through the Configuration Manager service to gain elevated privileges, which can then be used to compromise the entire Configuration Manager installation and potentially other network resources.
