Impact
A flaw in Foreman allows an authenticated user with the low‑level Viewer role to submit requests to template preview endpoints, resulting in the disclosure of sensitive information such as host root passwords. Under insecure system configurations where Safemode protections are disabled, the same flaw can enable the user to execute arbitrary commands as the Foreman system account. The weakness derives from improper access control (CWE‑267).
Affected Systems
The vulnerability affects Red Hat Satellite 6.19 for RHEL 9, specifically the Satellite, Capsule, and Utils components identified by the product name Red Hat Satellite and the version 6.19. No other versions have been reported as impacted.
Risk and Exploitability
The CVSS score of 9.1 indicates a high severity, and the EPSS score is currently unavailable so the exact likelihood of exploitation in the wild is unknown. The flaw is not listed in the CISA KEV catalog, but the high severity and the ability to gain detailed system information or elevate privileges make it a high risk if an authenticated user is able to access preview endpoints. Exploitation requires an authenticated session; therefore the attack vector is primarily the web API or UI of Foreman, not a remote network attack without authentication.
