There is a flaw in polkit which can allow an unprivileged user to cause polkit to crash, due to process file descriptor exhaustion. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to availability. NOTE: Polkit process outage duration is tied to the failing process being reaped and a new one being spawned
CVE-2021-4120 | 2 Canonical, Fedoraproject | 3 Snapd, Ubuntu Linux, Fedora | 2024-08-03 | 8.2 High |
snapd 2.54.2 fails to perform sufficient validation of snap content interface and layout paths, resulting in the ability for snaps to inject arbitrary AppArmor policy rules via malformed content interface and layout declarations and hence escape strict snap confinement. Fixed in snapd versions 2.54.3+18.04, 2.54.3+20.04 and 2.54.3+21.10.1
CVE-2021-4034 | 7 Canonical, Oracle, Polkit Project and 4 more | 38 Ubuntu Linux, Http Server, Zfs Storage Appliance Kit and 35 more | 2024-08-03 | 7.8 High |
A local privilege escalation vulnerability was found on polkit's pkexec utility. The pkexec application is a setuid tool designed to allow unprivileged users to run commands as privileged users according predefined policies. The current version of pkexec doesn't handle the calling parameters count correctly and ends trying to execute environment variables as commands. An attacker can leverage this by crafting environment variables in such a way it'll induce pkexec to execute arbitrary code. When successfully executed the attack can cause a local privilege escalation given unprivileged users administrative rights on the target machine.
CVE-2021-4093 | 4 Canonical, Fedoraproject, Linux and 1 more | 4 Ubuntu Linux, Fedora, Linux Kernel and 1 more | 2024-08-03 | 8.8 High |
A flaw was found in the KVM's AMD code for supporting the Secure Encrypted Virtualization-Encrypted State (SEV-ES). A KVM guest using SEV-ES can trigger out-of-bounds reads and writes in the host kernel via a malicious VMGEXIT for a string I/O instruction (for example, outs or ins) using the exit reason SVM_EXIT_IOIO. This issue results in a crash of the entire system or a potential guest-to-host escape scenario.
CVE-2021-3975 | 5 Canonical, Debian, Fedoraproject and 2 more | 15 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Fedora and 12 more | 2024-08-03 | 6.5 Medium |
A use-after-free flaw was found in libvirt. The qemuMonitorUnregister() function in qemuProcessHandleMonitorEOF is called using multiple threads without being adequately protected by a monitor lock. This flaw could be triggered by the virConnectGetAllDomainStats API when the guest is shutting down. An unprivileged client with a read-only connection could use this flaw to perform a denial of service attack by causing the libvirt daemon to crash.
CVE-2021-3905 | 4 Canonical, Fedoraproject, Openvswitch and 1 more | 5 Ubuntu Linux, Fedora, Openvswitch and 2 more | 2024-08-03 | 7.5 High |
A memory leak was found in Open vSwitch (OVS) during userspace IP fragmentation processing. An attacker could use this flaw to potentially exhaust available memory by keeping sending packet fragments.
CVE-2021-3748 | 5 Canonical, Debian, Fedoraproject and 2 more | 7 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Fedora and 4 more | 2024-08-03 | 7.5 High |
A use-after-free vulnerability was found in the virtio-net device of QEMU. It could occur when the descriptor's address belongs to the non direct access region, due to num_buffers being set after the virtqueue elem has been unmapped. A malicious guest could use this flaw to crash QEMU, resulting in a denial of service condition, or potentially execute code on the host with the privileges of the QEMU process.
CVE-2021-3737 | 6 Canonical, Fedoraproject, Netapp and 3 more | 18 Ubuntu Linux, Fedora, Hci and 15 more | 2024-08-03 | 7.5 High |
A flaw was found in python. An improperly handled HTTP response in the HTTP client code of python may allow a remote attacker, who controls the HTTP server, to make the client script enter an infinite loop, consuming CPU time. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to system availability.
CVE-2021-3640 | 6 Canonical, Debian, Fedoraproject and 3 more | 23 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Fedora and 20 more | 2024-08-03 | 7.0 High |
A flaw use-after-free in function sco_sock_sendmsg() of the Linux kernel HCI subsystem was found in the way user calls ioct UFFDIO_REGISTER or other way triggers race condition of the call sco_conn_del() together with the call sco_sock_sendmsg() with the expected controllable faulting memory page. A privileged local user could use this flaw to crash the system or escalate their privileges on the system.
CVE-2021-3560 | 4 Canonical, Debian, Polkit Project and 1 more | 10 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Polkit and 7 more | 2024-08-03 | 7.8 High |
It was found that polkit could be tricked into bypassing the credential checks for D-Bus requests, elevating the privileges of the requestor to the root user. This flaw could be used by an unprivileged local attacker to, for example, create a new local administrator. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to data confidentiality and integrity as well as system availability.
CVE-2021-3155 | 1 Canonical | 2 Snapd, Ubuntu Linux | 2024-08-03 | 3.8 Low |
snapd 2.54.2 and earlier created ~/snap directories in user home directories without specifying owner-only permissions. This could allow a local attacker to read information that should have been private. Fixed in snapd versions 2.54.3+18.04, 2.54.3+20.04 and 2.54.3+21.10.1
CVE-2022-44544 | 2 Canonical, Mahara | 2 Ubuntu Linux, Mahara | 2024-08-03 | 9.8 Critical |
Mahara 21.04 before 21.04.7, 21.10 before 21.10.5, 22.04 before 22.04.3, and 22.10 before 22.10.0 potentially allow a PDF export to trigger a remote shell if the site is running on Ubuntu and the flag -dSAFER is not set with Ghostscript.
CVE-2022-41222 | 5 Canonical, Debian, Linux and 2 more | 7 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Linux Kernel and 4 more | 2024-08-03 | 7.0 High |
mm/mremap.c in the Linux kernel before 5.13.3 has a use-after-free via a stale TLB because an rmap lock is not held during a PUD move.
CVE-2022-40617 | 5 Canonical, Debian, Fedoraproject and 2 more | 5 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Fedora and 2 more | 2024-08-03 | 7.5 High |
strongSwan before 5.9.8 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service in the revocation plugin by sending a crafted end-entity (and intermediate CA) certificate that contains a CRL/OCSP URL that points to a server (under the attacker's control) that doesn't properly respond but (for example) just does nothing after the initial TCP handshake, or sends an excessive amount of application data.
CVE-2022-40277 | 3 Canonical, Joplinapp, Linux | 3 Ubuntu Linux, Joplin, Linux Kernel | 2024-08-03 | 7.8 High |
Joplin version 2.8.8 allows an external attacker to execute arbitrary commands remotely on any client that opens a link in a malicious markdown file, via Joplin. This is possible because the application does not properly validate the schema/protocol of existing links in the markdown file before passing them to the 'shell.openExternal' function.
CVE-2022-39177 | 3 Bluez, Canonical, Debian | 3 Bluez, Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux | 2024-08-03 | 8.8 High |
