CVE-2017-3137 | 4 Debian, Isc, Netapp and 1 more | 16 Debian Linux, Bind, Data Ontap Edge and 13 more | 2024-09-17 | N/A |
Mistaken assumptions about the ordering of records in the answer section of a response containing CNAME or DNAME resource records could lead to a situation in which named would exit with an assertion failure when processing a response in which records occurred in an unusual order. Affects BIND 9.9.9-P6, 9.9.10b1->9.9.10rc1, 9.10.4-P6, 9.10.5b1->9.10.5rc1, 9.11.0-P3, 9.11.1b1->9.11.1rc1, and 9.9.9-S8.
CVE-2017-18235 | 1 Exempi Project | 1 Exempi | 2024-09-17 | N/A |
An issue was discovered in Exempi before 2.4.3. The VPXChunk class in XMPFiles/source/FormatSupport/WEBP_Support.cpp does not ensure nonzero widths and heights, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (assertion failure and application exit) via a crafted .webp file.
CVE-2017-3136 | 4 Debian, Isc, Netapp and 1 more | 12 Debian Linux, Bind, Data Ontap Edge and 9 more | 2024-09-17 | N/A |
A query with a specific set of characteristics could cause a server using DNS64 to encounter an assertion failure and terminate. An attacker could deliberately construct a query, enabling denial-of-service against a server if it was configured to use the DNS64 feature and other preconditions were met. Affects BIND 9.8.0 -> 9.8.8-P1, 9.9.0 -> 9.9.9-P6, 9.9.10b1->9.9.10rc1, 9.10.0 -> 9.10.4-P6, 9.10.5b1->9.10.5rc1, 9.11.0 -> 9.11.0-P3, 9.11.1b1->9.11.1rc1, 9.9.3-S1 -> 9.9.9-S8.

CVE-2019-6467 | 1 Isc | 1 Bind | 2024-09-17 | 7.5 High |
A programming error in the nxdomain-redirect feature can cause an assertion failure in query.c if the alternate namespace used by nxdomain-redirect is a descendant of a zone that is served locally. The most likely scenario where this might occur is if the server, in addition to performing NXDOMAIN redirection for recursive clients, is also serving a local copy of the root zone or using mirroring to provide the root zone, although other configurations are also possible. Versions affected: BIND 9.12.0-> 9.12.4, 9.14.0. Also affects all releases in the 9.13 development branch.
CVE-2019-0003 | 1 Juniper | 35 Ex2200\/vc, Ex2300, Ex3200 and 32 more | 2024-09-17 | 5.9 Medium |
When a specific BGP flowspec configuration is enabled and upon receipt of a specific matching BGP packet meeting a specific term in the flowspec configuration, a reachable assertion failure occurs, causing the routing protocol daemon (rpd) process to crash with a core file being generated. Affected releases are Juniper Networks Junos OS: 12.1X46 versions prior to 12.1X46-D77 on SRX Series; 12.3 versions prior to 12.3R12-S10; 12.3X48 versions prior to 12.3X48-D70 on SRX Series; 14.1X53 versions prior to 14.1X53-D47 on EX2200/VC, EX3200, EX3300/VC, EX4200, EX4300, EX4550/VC, EX4600, EX6200, EX8200/VC (XRE), QFX3500, QFX3600, QFX5100; 15.1 versions prior to 15.1R3; 15.1F versions prior to 15.1F3; 15.1X49 versions prior to 15.1X49-D140 on SRX Series; 15.1X53 versions prior to 15.1X53-D59 on EX2300/EX3400.
CVE-2021-3454 | 1 Zephyrproject | 1 Zephyr | 2024-09-17 | 4.3 Medium |

CVE-2018-5745 | 2 Isc, Redhat | 2 Bind, Enterprise Linux | 2024-09-16 | 4.9 Medium |
"managed-keys" is a feature which allows a BIND resolver to automatically maintain the keys used by trust anchors which operators configure for use in DNSSEC validation. Due to an error in the managed-keys feature it is possible for a BIND server which uses managed-keys to exit due to an assertion failure if, during key rollover, a trust anchor's keys are replaced with keys which use an unsupported algorithm. Versions affected: BIND 9.9.0 -> 9.10.8-P1, 9.11.0 -> 9.11.5-P1, 9.12.0 -> 9.12.3-P1, and versions 9.9.3-S1 -> 9.11.5-S3 of BIND 9 Supported Preview Edition. Versions 9.13.0 -> 9.13.6 of the 9.13 development branch are also affected. Versions prior to BIND 9.9.0 have not been evaluated for vulnerability to CVE-2018-5745.
CVE-2020-8618 | 4 Canonical, Isc, Netapp and 1 more | 4 Ubuntu Linux, Bind, Steelstore Cloud Integrated Storage and 1 more | 2024-09-16 | 4.9 Medium |
An attacker who is permitted to send zone data to a server via zone transfer can exploit this to intentionally trigger the assertion failure with a specially constructed zone, denying service to clients.

CVE-2021-32037 | 1 Mongodb | 1 Mongodb | 2024-09-16 | 6.5 Medium |
An authorized user may trigger an invariant which may result in denial of service or server exit if a relevant aggregation request is sent to a shard. Usually, the requests are sent via mongos and special privileges are required in order to know the address of the shards and to log in to the shards of an auth enabled environment. This issue affects MongoDB Server v5.0 versions prior to and including 5.0.2.
CVE-2021-3431 | 1 Zephyrproject | 1 Zephyr | 2024-09-16 | 4.3 Medium |

CVE-2017-3138 | 3 Debian, Isc, Netapp | 5 Debian Linux, Bind, Data Ontap Edge and 2 more | 2024-09-16 | N/A |
named contains a feature which allows operators to issue commands to a running server by communicating with the server process over a control channel, using a utility program such as rndc. A regression introduced in a recent feature change has created a situation under which some versions of named can be caused to exit with a REQUIRE assertion failure if they are sent a null command string. Affects BIND 9.9.9->9.9.9-P7, 9.9.10b1->9.9.10rc2, 9.10.4->9.10.4-P7, 9.10.5b1->9.10.5rc2, 9.11.0->9.11.0-P4, 9.11.1b1->9.11.1rc2, 9.9.9-S1->9.9.9-S9.
CVE-2018-5737 | 2 Isc, Netapp | 3 Bind, Cloud Backup, Data Ontap Edge | 2024-09-16 | N/A |
A problem with the implementation of the new serve-stale feature in BIND 9.12 can lead to an assertion failure in rbtdb.c, even when stale-answer-enable is off. Additionally, problematic interaction between the serve-stale feature and NSEC aggressive negative caching can in some cases cause undesirable behavior from named, such as a recursion loop or excessive logging. Deliberate exploitation of this condition could cause operational problems depending on the particular manifestation -- either degradation or denial of service. Affects BIND 9.12.0 and 9.12.1.
CVE-2019-6473 | 1 Ics | 1 Kea | 2024-09-16 | 6.5 Medium |
An invalid hostname option can trigger an assertion failure in the Kea DHCPv4 server process (kea-dhcp4), causing the server process to exit. Versions affected: 1.4.0 to 1.5.0, 1.6.0-beta1, and 1.6.0-beta2.
CVE-2022-0667 | 2 Isc, Netapp | 17 Bind, H300e, H300e Firmware and 14 more | 2024-09-16 | 7.5 High |
When the vulnerability is triggered the BIND process will exit. BIND 9.18.0
CVE-2021-25215 | 7 Debian, Fedoraproject, Isc and 4 more | 31 Debian Linux, Fedora, Bind and 28 more | 2024-09-16 | 7.5 High |
In BIND 9.0.0 -> 9.11.29, 9.12.0 -> 9.16.13, and versions BIND 9.9.3-S1 -> 9.11.29-S1 and 9.16.8-S1 -> 9.16.13-S1 of BIND Supported Preview Edition, as well as release versions 9.17.0 -> 9.17.11 of the BIND 9.17 development branch, when a vulnerable version of named receives a query for a record triggering the flaw described above, the named process will terminate due to a failed assertion check. The vulnerability affects all currently maintained BIND 9 branches (9.11, 9.11-S, 9.16, 9.16-S, 9.17) as well as all other versions of BIND 9.
CVE-2020-8617 | 6 Canonical, Debian, Fedoraproject and 3 more | 10 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Fedora and 7 more | 2024-09-16 | 7.5 High |
Using a specially-crafted message, an attacker may potentially cause a BIND server to reach an inconsistent state if the attacker knows (or successfully guesses) the name of a TSIG key used by the server. Since BIND, by default, configures a local session key even on servers whose configuration does not otherwise make use of it, almost all current BIND servers are vulnerable. In releases of BIND dating from March 2018 and after, an assertion check in tsig.c detects this inconsistent state and deliberately exits. Prior to the introduction of the check the server would continue operating in an inconsistent state, with potentially harmful results. |
