Description
This vulnerability only affects Grafana stacks configured with multiple organizations; single-organization deployments are not impacted. In a multi-organization stack, a user who is an Org Admin of a single organization can call GET /api/access-control/users/permissions/search?actionPrefix=dashboards: and receive permission data belonging to other organizations. The disclosed data is limited to dashboard and folder identifiers (UIDs) and per-user permission/scope mappings (which user holds which access on which dashboard). Dashboard contents, panels, query results, datasource credentials, secrets, and personal data are not exposed. This is a limited cross-organization information disclosure affecting multi-org deployments only.

Impact

The vulnerability allows a user with Org Admin rights in one organization to invoke the endpoint /api/access-control/users/permissions/search with actionPrefix=dashboards:. The API returns the UID of dashboards and folders, and the mapping of which users possess which permissions on those dashboards in other organizations. This reveals cross‑organization permission ownership and scope but does not expose dashboard contents, query results, datasource credentials, or personal data. The weakness is an incomplete information (CWE‑863).

Affected Systems

Grafana Enterprise and Grafana Open‑Source Stack deployments that enable multi‑organization mode. Any deployment that allows more than one organization is potentially affected; version information is not provided in the advisory.

Risk and Exploitability

The advisory lists a CVSS score of 5.3, indicating medium severity, and the EPSS score is not available. The vulnerability is not listed in CISA’s KEV catalog, suggesting no widespread publicly known exploits. Exploitation requires that the attacker already holds Org Admin privileges in at least one organization, and the attack vector is intra‑application. Consequently, the risk hinges on the protection of Org Admin accounts and the prevalence of multi‑organization configurations.

Remediation

No vendor fix or workaround currently provided.

OpenCVE Recommended Actions

  • Upgrade your Grafana installation to the latest release that fixes this issue (see the vendor advisory).
  • Re‑evaluate the use of the Org Admin role; consider limiting it to only the necessary organizations or removing cross‑org privileges.
  • If a suitable patch is not yet available, disable the multi‑organization feature to prevent the disclosure until a fix is applied.
