Buffer Overflow vulnerability in function bitwriter_grow_ in flac before 1.4.0 allows remote attackers to run arbitrary code via crafted input to the encoder.
CVE-2020-1971 | 9 Debian, Fedoraproject, Netapp and 6 more | 55 Debian Linux, Fedora, Active Iq Unified Manager and 52 more | 2024-11-21 | 5.9 Medium |
The X.509 GeneralName type is a generic type for representing different types of names. One of those name types is known as EDIPartyName. OpenSSL provides a function GENERAL_NAME_cmp which compares different instances of a GENERAL_NAME to see if they are equal or not. This function behaves incorrectly when both GENERAL_NAMEs contain an EDIPARTYNAME. A NULL pointer dereference and a crash may occur leading to a possible denial of service attack. OpenSSL itself uses the GENERAL_NAME_cmp function for two purposes: 1) Comparing CRL distribution point names between an available CRL and a CRL distribution point embedded in an X509 certificate 2) When verifying that a timestamp response token signer matches the timestamp authority name (exposed via the API functions TS_RESP_verify_response and TS_RESP_verify_token) If an attacker can control both items being compared then that attacker could trigger a crash. For example if the attacker can trick a client or server into checking a malicious certificate against a malicious CRL then this may occur. Note that some applications automatically download CRLs based on a URL embedded in a certificate. This checking happens prior to the signatures on the certificate and CRL being verified. OpenSSL's s_server, s_client and verify tools have support for the "-crl_download" option which implements automatic CRL downloading and this attack has been demonstrated to work against those tools. Note that an unrelated bug means that affected versions of OpenSSL cannot parse or construct correct encodings of EDIPARTYNAME. However it is possible to construct a malformed EDIPARTYNAME that OpenSSL's parser will accept and hence trigger this attack. All OpenSSL 1.1.1 and 1.0.2 versions are affected by this issue. Other OpenSSL releases are out of support and have not been checked. Fixed in OpenSSL 1.1.1i (Affected 1.1.1-1.1.1h). Fixed in OpenSSL 1.0.2x (Affected 1.0.2-1.0.2w).
CVE-2020-15862 | 4 Canonical, Net-snmp, Netapp and 1 more | 11 Ubuntu Linux, Net-snmp, Cloud Backup and 8 more | 2024-11-21 | 7.8 High |

CVE-2020-15707 | 8 Canonical, Debian, Gnu and 5 more | 19 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Grub2 and 16 more | 2024-11-21 | 5.7 Medium |
Integer overflows were discovered in the functions grub_cmd_initrd and grub_initrd_init in the efilinux component of GRUB2, as shipped in Debian, Red Hat, and Ubuntu (the functionality is not included in GRUB2 upstream), leading to a heap-based buffer overflow. These could be triggered by an extremely large number of arguments to the initrd command on 32-bit architectures, or a crafted filesystem with very large files on any architecture. An attacker could use this to execute arbitrary code and bypass UEFI Secure Boot restrictions. This issue affects GRUB2 version 2.04 and prior versions.
CVE-2020-15706 | 7 Canonical, Debian, Gnu and 4 more | 18 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Grub2 and 15 more | 2024-11-21 | 6.4 Medium |
GRUB2 contains a race condition in grub_script_function_create() leading to a use-after-free vulnerability which can be triggered by redefining a function whilst the same function is already executing, leading to arbitrary code execution and secure boot restriction bypass. This issue affects GRUB2 version 2.04 and prior versions.
CVE-2020-15705 | 7 Canonical, Debian, Gnu and 4 more | 18 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Grub2 and 15 more | 2024-11-21 | 6.4 Medium |
GRUB2 fails to validate kernel signature when booted directly without shim, allowing secure boot to be bypassed. This only affects systems where the kernel signing certificate has been imported directly into the secure boot database and the GRUB image is booted directly without the use of shim. This issue affects GRUB2 version 2.04 and prior versions.
CVE-2020-14372 | 4 Fedoraproject, Gnu, Netapp and 1 more | 13 Fedora, Grub2, Cloud Backup and 10 more | 2024-11-21 | 7.5 High |
A flaw was found in grub2 in versions prior to 2.06, where it incorrectly enables the usage of the ACPI command when Secure Boot is enabled. This flaw allows an attacker with privileged access to craft a Secondary System Description Table (SSDT) containing code to overwrite the Linux kernel lockdown variable content directly into memory. The table is further loaded and executed by the kernel, defeating its Secure Boot lockdown and allowing the attacker to load unsigned code. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to data confidentiality and integrity, as well as system availability.
CVE-2020-14364 | 6 Canonical, Debian, Fedoraproject and 3 more | 14 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Fedora and 11 more | 2024-11-21 | 5.0 Medium |
An out-of-bounds read/write access flaw was found in the USB emulator of the QEMU in versions before 5.2.0. This issue occurs while processing USB packets from a guest when USBDevice 'setup_len' exceeds its 'data_buf[4096]' in the do_token_in, do_token_out routines. This flaw allows a guest user to crash the QEMU process, resulting in a denial of service, or the potential execution of arbitrary code with the privileges of the QEMU process on the host.
CVE-2020-14351 | 3 Debian, Linux, Redhat | 8 Debian Linux, Linux Kernel, Enterprise Linux and 5 more | 2024-11-21 | 7.8 High |
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel. A use-after-free memory flaw was found in the perf subsystem allowing a local attacker with permission to monitor perf events to corrupt memory and possibly escalate privileges. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to data confidentiality and integrity as well as system availability.
CVE-2020-14311 | 4 Canonical, Gnu, Opensuse and 1 more | 11 Ubuntu Linux, Grub2, Leap and 8 more | 2024-11-21 | 5.7 Medium |
There is an issue with grub2 before version 2.06 while handling symlink on ext filesystems. A filesystem containing a symbolic link with an inode size of UINT32_MAX causes an arithmetic overflow leading to a zero-sized memory allocation with subsequent heap-based buffer overflow.
CVE-2020-14310 | 4 Canonical, Gnu, Opensuse and 1 more | 11 Ubuntu Linux, Grub2, Leap and 8 more | 2024-11-21 | 5.7 Medium |
There is an issue on grub2 before version 2.06 at function read_section_as_string(). It expects a font name to be at max UINT32_MAX - 1 length in bytes but it doesn't verify it before proceed with buffer allocation to read the value from the font value. An attacker may leverage that by crafting a malicious font file which has a name with UINT32_MAX, leading to read_section_as_string() to an arithmetic overflow, zero-sized allocation and further heap-based buffer overflow.
CVE-2020-14309 | 3 Gnu, Opensuse, Redhat | 7 Grub2, Leap, Enterprise Linux and 4 more | 2024-11-21 | 6.7 Medium |
There's an issue with grub2 in all versions before 2.06 when handling squashfs filesystems containing a symbolic link with name length of UINT32 bytes in size. The name size leads to an arithmetic overflow leading to a zero-size allocation further causing a heap-based buffer overflow with attacker controlled data.
CVE-2020-14308 | 3 Gnu, Opensuse, Redhat | 7 Grub2, Leap, Enterprise Linux and 4 more | 2024-11-21 | 6.4 Medium |
In grub2 versions before 2.06 the grub memory allocator doesn't check for possible arithmetic overflows on the requested allocation size. This leads the function to return invalid memory allocations which can be further used to cause possible integrity, confidentiality and availability impacts during the boot process.
CVE-2020-12888 | 7 Canonical, Debian, Fedoraproject and 4 more | 45 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Fedora and 42 more | 2024-11-21 | 5.3 Medium |
The VFIO PCI driver in the Linux kernel through 5.6.13 mishandles attempts to access disabled memory space.
CVE-2020-12770 | 6 Canonical, Debian, Fedoraproject and 3 more | 42 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Fedora and 39 more | 2024-11-21 | 6.7 Medium |
An issue was discovered in the Linux kernel through 5.6.11. sg_write lacks an sg_remove_request call in a certain failure case, aka CID-83c6f2390040.
CVE-2020-12723 | 6 Fedoraproject, Netapp, Opensuse and 3 more | 21 Fedora, Oncommand Workflow Automation, Snap Creator Framework and 18 more | 2024-11-21 | 7.5 High |
regcomp.c in Perl before 5.30.3 allows a buffer overflow via a crafted regular expression because of recursive S_study_chunk calls.
CVE-2020-12654 | 2 Linux, Redhat | 8 Linux Kernel, Enterprise Linux, Enterprise Mrg and 5 more | 2024-11-21 | 7.1 High |
An issue was found in Linux kernel before 5.5.4. mwifiex_ret_wmm_get_status() in drivers/net/wireless/marvell/mwifiex/wmm.c allows a remote AP to trigger a heap-based buffer overflow because of an incorrect memcpy, aka CID-3a9b153c5591.
CVE-2020-12653 | 5 Debian, Linux, Netapp and 2 more | 42 Debian Linux, Linux Kernel, A700s and 39 more | 2024-11-21 | 7.8 High |
An issue was found in Linux kernel before 5.5.4. The mwifiex_cmd_append_vsie_tlv() function in drivers/net/wireless/marvell/mwifiex/scan.c allows local users to gain privileges or cause a denial of service because of an incorrect memcpy and buffer overflow, aka CID-b70261a288ea. |
