CVE-2019-15792 | 2 Canonical, Linux | 2 Ubuntu Linux, Linux Kernel | 2024-09-16 | 7.1 High |
In shiftfs, a non-upstream patch to the Linux kernel included in the Ubuntu 5.0 and 5.3 kernel series, shiftfs_btrfs_ioctl_fd_replace() calls fdget(oldfd), then without further checks passes the resulting file* into shiftfs_real_fdget(), which casts file->private_data, a void* that points to a filesystem-dependent type, to a "struct shiftfs_file_info *". As the private_data is not required to be a pointer, an attacker can use this to cause a denial of service or possibly execute arbitrary code.
CVE-2016-1585 | 1 Canonical | 1 Apparmor | 2024-09-16 | N/A |
In all versions of AppArmor mount rules are accidentally widened when compiled.
CVE-2020-8618 | 4 Canonical, Isc, Netapp and 1 more | 4 Ubuntu Linux, Bind, Steelstore Cloud Integrated Storage and 1 more | 2024-09-16 | 4.9 Medium |
An attacker who is permitted to send zone data to a server via zone transfer can exploit this to intentionally trigger the assertion failure with a specially constructed zone, denying service to clients.
CVE-2018-15686 | 5 Canonical, Debian, Oracle and 2 more | 10 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Communications Cloud Native Core Network Function Cloud Native Environment and 7 more | 2024-09-16 | 7.8 High |
A vulnerability in unit_deserialize of systemd allows an attacker to supply arbitrary state across systemd re-execution via NotifyAccess. This can be used to improperly influence systemd execution and possibly lead to root privilege escalation. Affected releases are systemd versions up to and including 239.
CVE-2013-1054 | 1 Canonical | 2 Ubuntu Linux, Unity-firefox-extension | 2024-09-16 | 4.3 Medium |
The unity-firefox-extension package could be tricked into destroying the Unity webapps context, causing Firefox to crash. This could be achieved by spinning the event loop inside the webapps initialization callback. Fixed in 3.0.0+14.04.20140416-0ubuntu1.14.04.1 by shipping an empty package, thus disabling the extension entirely.
CVE-2017-12617 | 6 Apache, Canonical, Debian and 3 more | 60 Tomcat, Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux and 57 more | 2024-09-16 | 8.1 High |
When running Apache Tomcat versions 9.0.0.M1 to 9.0.0, 8.5.0 to 8.5.22, 8.0.0.RC1 to 8.0.46 and 7.0.0 to 7.0.81 with HTTP PUTs enabled (e.g. via setting the readonly initialisation parameter of the Default servlet to false) it was possible to upload a JSP file to the server via a specially crafted request. This JSP could then be requested and any code it contained would be executed by the server.
CVE-2019-11043 | 6 Canonical, Debian, Fedoraproject and 3 more | 26 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Fedora and 23 more | 2024-09-16 | 8.7 High |
In PHP versions 7.1.x below 7.1.33, 7.2.x below 7.2.24 and 7.3.x below 7.3.11 in certain configurations of FPM setup it is possible to cause FPM module to write past allocated buffers into the space reserved for FCGI protocol data, thus opening the possibility of remote code execution.
CVE-2021-3709 | 1 Canonical | 2 Apport, Ubuntu Linux | 2024-09-16 | 6.5 Medium |
Function check_attachment_for_errors() in file data/general-hooks/ubuntu.py could be tricked into exposing private data via a constructed crash file. This issue affects: apport 2.14.1 versions prior to 2.14.1-0ubuntu3.29+esm8; 2.20.1 versions prior to 2.20.1-0ubuntu2.30+esm2; 2.20.9 versions prior to 2.20.9-0ubuntu7.26; 2.20.11 versions prior to 2.20.11-0ubuntu27.20; 2.20.11 versions prior to 2.20.11-0ubuntu65.3;
CVE-2019-11481 | 2 Apport Project, Canonical | 2 Apport, Ubuntu Linux | 2024-09-16 | 3.8 Low |
Kevin Backhouse discovered that apport would read a user-supplied configuration file with elevated privileges. By replacing the file with a symbolic link, a user could get apport to read any file on the system as root, with unknown consequences.
CVE-2021-32550 | 1 Canonical | 1 Ubuntu Linux | 2024-09-16 | 7.3 High |
It was discovered that read_file() in apport/hookutils.py would follow symbolic links or open FIFOs. When this function is used by the openjdk-14 package apport hooks, it could expose private data to other local users.
CVE-2019-11479 | 4 Canonical, F5, Linux and 1 more | 27 Ubuntu Linux, Big-ip Access Policy Manager, Big-ip Advanced Firewall Manager and 24 more | 2024-09-16 | 7.5 High |
Jonathan Looney discovered that the Linux kernel default MSS is hard-coded to 48 bytes. This allows a remote peer to fragment TCP resend queues significantly more than if a larger MSS were enforced. A remote attacker could use this to cause a denial of service. This has been fixed in stable kernel releases 4.4.182, 4.9.182, 4.14.127, 4.19.52, 5.1.11, and is fixed in commits 967c05aee439e6e5d7d805e195b3a20ef5c433d6 and 5f3e2bf008c2221478101ee72f5cb4654b9fc363.
CVE-2018-15378 | 3 Canonical, Clamav, Debian | 3 Ubuntu Linux, Clamav, Debian Linux | 2024-09-16 | N/A |
A vulnerability in ClamAV versions prior to 0.100.2 could allow an attacker to cause a denial of service (DoS) condition. The vulnerability is due to an error related to the MEW unpacker within the "unmew11()" function (libclamav/mew.c), which can be exploited to trigger an invalid read memory access via a specially crafted EXE file.
CVE-2021-32554 | 1 Canonical | 1 Ubuntu Linux | 2024-09-16 | 7.3 High |
It was discovered that read_file() in apport/hookutils.py would follow symbolic links or open FIFOs. When this function is used by the xorg package apport hooks, it could expose private data to other local users.
CVE-2018-8013 | 4 Apache, Canonical, Debian and 1 more | 21 Batik, Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux and 18 more | 2024-09-16 | N/A |
In Apache Batik 1.x before 1.10, when deserializing subclass of `AbstractDocument`, the class takes a string from the inputStream as the class name which then use it to call the no-arg constructor of the class. Fix was to check the class type before calling newInstance in deserialization.
CVE-2018-1050 | 4 Canonical, Debian, Redhat and 1 more | 8 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Enterprise Linux and 5 more | 2024-09-16 | 4.3 Medium |
All versions of Samba from 4.0.0 onwards are vulnerable to a denial of service attack when the RPC spoolss service is configured to be run as an external daemon. Missing input sanitization checks on some of the input parameters to spoolss RPC calls could cause the print spooler service to crash.
CVE-2017-15705 | 4 Apache, Canonical, Debian and 1 more | 8 Spamassassin, Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux and 5 more | 2024-09-16 | N/A |
A denial of service vulnerability was identified that exists in Apache SpamAssassin before 3.4.2. The vulnerability arises with certain unclosed tags in emails that cause markup to be handled incorrectly leading to scan timeouts. In Apache SpamAssassin, using HTML::Parser, we setup an object and hook into the begin and end tag event handlers In both cases, the "open" event is immediately followed by a "close" event - even if the tag *does not* close in the HTML being parsed. Because of this, we are missing the "text" event to deal with the object normally. This can cause carefully crafted emails that might take more scan time than expected leading to a Denial of Service. The issue is possibly a bug or design decision in HTML::Parser that specifically impacts the way Apache SpamAssassin uses the module with poorly formed html. The exploit has been seen in the wild but not believed to have been purposefully part of a Denial of Service attempt. We are concerned that there may be attempts to abuse the vulnerability in the future.
CVE-2021-32549 | 1 Canonical | 1 Ubuntu Linux | 2024-09-16 | 7.3 High |
It was discovered that read_file() in apport/hookutils.py would follow symbolic links or open FIFOs. When this function is used by the openjdk-13 package apport hooks, it could expose private data to other local users.
